Bhagavan Sri Ramana Maharshi
One may say that the composition of Bhagavan Ramana most dear to devotees is the ‘Marital Garland of Letters’, the first of His ‘Five Hymns on Arunachala’with the refrain ‘Arunachala Siva’, ‘Arunachala Siva’ (AS).

Bhagavan Ramana is not a composer in the ordinary sense of the term. Phrases flowed spontaneously and insisted as it were to put them down.

Ganapati Muni says that words were eagerly awaiting to be used by Ramana. Indeed they would compete with one another for such an opportunity!

Arunachala Akshara Mana Malai the original Tamil composition begins with a invocatory prayer to Ganesa and has 108 couplets with a concluding Mangaala Vazhttu.

Arunachala (‘A’) - The composition is addressed to ‘A’ and each couplet has a refrain of AS
Akshara - The verses are in the order of the Tamil alphabets.
Mana - Is in Nayaka Nayaki Bhava meaning the bride addressing the bridegroom.
Malai - Strung as a garland.

Telugu, Kannada, Hindi and Gujarati translated versions are there. Some couplets have been rendered in Malayalam and some in English as well.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                      Click here for the song
